Method

  1. Pour the contents of the cake mix package into a deep bowl and break up any lumps it may have.
  2. Add the baking powder, melted butter, milk, water and 3 eggs. Mix well until everything is fully incorporated.
  3. Grease the bottom and sides of the pan with butter. Preheat the oven to 350 °F (180 °C).
  4. In a skillet, place one pound of coconut sweet with ¼ cup brown sugar over heat. Stir well and cook over medium heat until it thickens.
  5. Let the coconut sweet cool, add it to the panetela batter and incorporate it well.
  6. Pour all the mixture into the pan and bake for about 30 minutes. To check if it is ready, prick the center with a toothpick: it should come out dry.
  7. While the panetela is in the oven, place the second pound of coconut sweet with the rest of the brown sugar over heat. Stir well and cook over medium heat until it begins to thicken.
  8. Remove the panetela from the oven and let it cool. Turn it over and unmold it.
  9. Cover it with the coconut sweet and let it cool. Serve cold, with ice cream or with a good coffee.
