This soup leaves no one indifferent. It is very energizing and eaten throughout Cuba, although it is seen less and less on tables. It is a simple and very much our own recipe: it appears in humble homes and also in traditional cookbooks. Try it, it is worth it.

Method
- Peel the plantains and sprinkle them with the lemon juice.
- Cut them into slices one inch (about 2.5 cm) thick.
- Boil the slices in the broth until they are tender.
- Another option: fry the slices in hot fat, as if you were making chatinos. Mash them until they form a paste and gradually add the hot broth, stirring, until it reaches soup consistency.
- Add the breadcrumbs or the very finely ground toast and let cook until the soup thickens.
- Serve very hot, accompanied by pieces of fried bread or some crunchy food. Enjoy!
